I believe that as a Hong Kong person, you must have heard the saying "Eight delicacies are especially delicious when added with vinegar". The author has grown up seeing this advertisement. Even though he has never actually visited the store, he feels familiar and intimate with it. Bazhen was founded in 1932 by Mr. Wu Weisen. My father is proficient in sauce making and has transformed a traditional small shop into a time-honored brand with branches. If you don't know, the name Bazhen is actually taken from "Zhou Rites" in the Four Books and Five Classics. "Bazhen" represents eight precious foods. Today, Bazhen has taken root in Hong Kong for 90 years. The Bazhen sweet vinegar here is a good friend for many mothers when they cook pork knuckles with ginger.
The iron gate painting here was created by a local artist. The painting depicts the founder, Mr. Wu Weisen, and the one on the left is the long-term hot seller here - pig's knuckle ginger. The artist also showed the scene of three generations welcoming new life, which symbolizes the inheritance of Bazhen and the attitude of always maintaining innovation. For old shops, inheritance is even more meaningful, because many traditional crafts are in danger of being lost. The baby in the painting is like a hope for Bazhen Laoshuo, and also a hope for the traditional handicraft industry.
